What an absolutely thrilling week on the water! It was nothing short of magical to witness kids reeling in their very first fish and bursting into joyful screams—there’s truly nothing that compares! The smoke was manageable; it typically settles down at night and drifts away during the day, which meant it didn’t put a damper on our fishing adventures at all. Choosing Paulina as our fishing spot turned out to be a stroke of genius!
The morning bite was solid until about 9:00 AM, but then things exploded in the afternoon! Around 11:00 AM, the action was off the charts! Believe it or not, we actually caught more fish in the afternoon than in the morning! While the fish seemed a bit scattered, when we located them, it was game on with the Pink, Purple, and Orange Poulsen Cascade Tackle Twirlee-Gigs! We opted not to use the downriggers because by this time of the season, those balls just seemed to spook the fish.
We kicked things off with 3 oz weights at depths of 75-100 feet and increased our weight as the sun climbed higher. We released quite a few spawners, but no worries—there are still tons of fish waiting to be caught! Overall, it was an outstanding week filled with unforgettable moments! If you’re looking to get in on the action and catch some quality fish, head over to Dayoneoutdoors.com and ask for James! Let’s keep the excitement rolling
